Award-winning PEI women’s choral ensemble will be joined by Aeolian Singers from Halifax
Rounding out its 2018-19 season, Sirens will present “Sea Songs” this May, along with the ever-popular Aeolian Singers from Halifax, NS. Billed as Maritime women singing Maritime songs, this concert will feature music based on folklore, water, and life near the ocean.
Sirens and the Aeolian Singers will perform works, both separately and together, that explore the triumphs and tragedies of the sea, as a bringer of the mystical, as well as danger, freedom, adventure, and community. From well-known folk songs such as “Maid on the Shore” and to classical works like Holst’s “Hymn to the Waters,” there will be something for everyone.
Audiences will have two opportunities to hear these choirs: on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Park Royal United Church in Charlottetown, and on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Trinity United Church in Summerside. Both concerts will begin at 3 pm.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors, and $10 for students.
