Sirens will undertake a recording project in late 2016, producing its first full-length album of Canadian choral works. Proceeds from this fundraising concert, which will also include a silent auction, will go toward recording and production costs associated with releasing the award-winning ensemble’s first CD.

Singers will break out into solos, duos and trios for an evening of songs ranging from musical theatre, to folk, pop and jazz. Hear numbers from the musicals “One Touch from Venus” and “Thoroughly Modern Millie”; enjoy folk-inspired covers and Maritime tunes; explore popular charts with the music of Hawksley Workman, Jully Black, and Hank Williams; Jazz standards from Nat King Cole and Cole Porter will also be featured. Ensemble members come together to perform songs from The Beatles, Imogen Heap and Wailin’ Jennys. Sirens will be joined by Morgan Saulnier at the piano.

Named after the singing femmes fatales of Greek mythology, Sirens is an award-winning women’s choral ensemble based out of Charlottetown. Since their formation in November 2012, the group has developed a strong following of supporters and has been lauded for its pure tone quality, sensitive musicality and tight ensemble. Committed to fostering the development of choral music in Prince Edward Island, Sirens produces two full-length concert programs each season while maintaining a busy schedule performing at numerous concerts, workshops, events and fundraisers. This past season, Sirens was featured at the renowned Indian River Festival and the UPEI Recital Series. The recipient of several awards at the local and provincial music festivals, Sirens won the Richard W. Cooke award at the 2015 FCMF National Music Festival, placing first in the choral ensemble class. Also in 2015, Sirens was nominated for a Music PEI Award for Achievement in Classical or Jazz.

Sirens would like to acknowledge The Guild for donating its theatre for this fundraising event.
