The Board of Directors for Sirens Choral Association is seeking new members.

For a decade, Sirens and Harmonia have been building their name recognition as the Island’s pre-eminent choral ensembles for treble voices. The Board is an advisory body, working towards sustainable governance and operations for Sirens and Harmonia choirs (both fall under the umbrella of Sirens Choral Association). We are looking for people willing to serve as Treasurer, and as governors.

Brace yourself for a musical voyage through time as Sirens, PEI’s acclaimed choral ensemble, performs Into the Spin at Park Royal United Church on Saturday, May 11, at 2:30 pm. Sirens will also present a second performance at Trinity-St. Stephen’s United Church in Amherst, NS on Sunday, May 12 at 3:00 pm.

Sirens invites its audience to be swept “into the spin” with a thought-provoking program. Fusing themes of time, life’s chapters, and mindfulness, the ensemble will deliver an experience that encourages listeners to consider their own relationship with the past, present and future.

At the heart of this program lies a repertoire designed to stir the soul and ignite the imagination. Among the pieces to be highlighted are Eric Whitacre’s soaring “Goodnight Moon,” a piece inspired by the bedtime story book by Margaret Wise Brown.  David Lang’s hauntingly minimalist “I Lie” is sung in Yiddish, and explores themes of truth and self-deception. Finally, Einojuhani Rautavaara’s ethereal “Suite de Lorca”  is inspired by the poetry of Federico García Lorca, featuring Spanish folk influences and emotive melodies.
