Sirens Choral Association (SCA) is excited to announce its annual fundraiser, this year featuring “Beer Choir!” Set to take place on Sunday, September 15th from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM, this event will be held at The Pourhouse, upstairs at The Old Triangle located at 189 Great George Street, Charlottetown.

Do you love supporting the arts and having a blast at the same time? Then this event is for you. “Beer Choir!” is a phenomenon that originated in Minnesota in 2015 and is making its PEI debut for this special one-day event. This isn’t like your traditional choir – if you show up at a Beer Choir event, you ARE the choir! No talent, training, or singing experience is required –  just come, sing, and laugh together! We will sing pop tunes, old-time favourites, and songs close to all hearts. To top it off, you will learn from SCA’s own director Kelsea McLean. In addition to the musical fun, guests are invited to bring cash to enter to win unbeatable door prizes, and to sample what is “on tap” at the Pourhouse.

Tickets for this event are $45 per person and free for children 5 years and under (children must be accompanied by an adult family member). Regular food and drink options will be available, with service provided by the Pourhouse staff. Please note that the price of the ticket covers the fundraiser; beverages and food are not included.

For a decade, Sirens and Harmonia have been building their name recognition as the Island’s pre-eminent choral ensembles for treble voices. The Board is a volunteer advisory body, working towards sustainable governance and operations for Sirens and Harmonia treble choirs (both of which fall under the umbrella of Sirens Choral Association).

We are seeking a person with experience in the non-profit space, someone with Treasurer experience who is willing to work alongside a hired bookkeeper in order to lay a foundation for transparent and sustainable financial best practices. We estimate that this process will require approximately 15 volunteer hours between now and December 2024, with the equivalent for 2025 and subsequent years of service.

If appointed, the Treasurer shall receive all monies paid to the Corporation and shall be responsible for the deposit of same in whatever bank, trust company or credit union the Board may order; and shall properly account for the funds of the Corporation and keep such books of account and records as may be directed; and shall present a full, detailed account of receipt and disbursements on the request of the Board of Directors at any time.

Duties of the Treasurer

  • Oversees the finances of the organization, including the organization’s financial responsibilities
  • Works with the book-keeper to ensure appropriate financial reports are made available to the Board
  • Ensures that annual financial reporting requirements are met
  • Presents an annual budget to the Board for approval, as prepared by the book-keeper
